BIO

Debra was born in LaCrosse, Kansas in 1968. She had the great fortune of having parents and older sisters who read aloud to her practically from the day she was born. What choice did she have but to become a reader and a writer?
 
Debra attended the University of Kansas where she received her BA in psychology and her MSW (Master's Degree in Social Work). She is currently employed at a not-for-profit hospice.
 
Debra's first novel, Visiting Grandma, was published in 2003 and was described by reviewers as "a heart-wrenching tale" and "a beautiful, disturbing story of a truly unforgettable boy." She is currently working on a sequel which should be available sometime next year.
 
In addition to her fiction writing, Debra freelances and ghostwrites. Her work has appeared on Suite101.com, BellaOnline.com, and Social Workers: Help Starts Here.org. She has also written newsletters, marketing materials, brochures, educational pamphlets, book reviews, online classes, and more.
 
Debra loves her family, her friends, her clients and her cats. She hates discrimination, child abuse, book burning, and for-profit healthcare.
